Thinking about getting on birth control but i am almost 3 years seizure free. And do not want anything to mess that up. Im wondering what kind of birth control should i consider that is best for people living with epilepsy

I would see with your Dr. which ones are fine with your meds. IUDs are great but depends on your meds. One kind affects hormons & if your meds. get affected it maybe bug them. I am on nothing due to everything bugging me.

I would schedule an appointment with your gyn for BC options and then see your neurologist to discuss the options you gyn recommended. It’s really important to dicuss your case with the experts. Every person is so different. On a side note, IUDs might be an option that doesn’t interact with medications, but as with all procesures there is some (small) risk involved.

My automatic answer is "anything that doesn't affect your hormones", but that's because hormones and my epilepsy do not mix.

I enquired with my neourligist and she told me if i wanted to go on birth control that they would have to put me on a low dosage due to my medication and also it be a dosage to where i might aswell not be on them.
