Does Anyone Have Info About Simple Partial Seizures ?
I need more information about this condition. I've had migraines. (Some with strange auras) since I was 12. And anxiety/panic my entire adult life. But these seizures are weird...It's like being trapped in a dream...just for about 30 seconds but it will happen when I'm on the phone at work...and I'll hear..."Hello....Hello are you still there?" And I snap back in and I think fast and say..."Oh wow I'm so sorry... and make up a reason why I was ignoring them for half a minute. Which is long on⦠read more
Thank you so much Margery, you seem to have it nailed to a tee. When they started it was like little glitches... They have progressed each year...From 07 to now....almost 11 years. I have a small business and sometimes it happens when I'm talking to clients. Or out with friends. Topamax has taken away my migraines but not these. Although I can only take a very small dose or I see double. I apparently had a full blown seizure 3 years ago. I was folding clothes and the next second I was on the other side of the room... I thought I had dosed off...I wasn't scared or even confused. Then I noticed my tongue was bleeding and the furniture was thrown all over. My first thought was the people from 'Men in Black' had been there and killed some aliens and zapped my memory. That was more believable to me than a full seizure. I'm on Keppra and I haven't had any more of those but when I start having the partials... the only thing that stops them is a Klonipin. I have them for anxiety and I don't want to abuse them. But as soon as I get one in my system it lessens it significantly.
Thanks to both of you....It's great to hear from people who "get it"
It sounds like you are having either a simple partial or complex partial seizure by what you describe. If you don't know you are doing it at all and blank out completely it's a complex partial seizure. If you feel funny and are with it, but can't speak or feel funny that's a simple partial. But, we can't diagnose you on this site. I would suggest making an appointment with a local neurologist. He/she can run a test (EEG) and find out if you have epilepsy or it is related to your migraines. If it is epilepsy, you can take meds and hopefully it will stop the seizures you seem to be having. While it can be stressful, everyone on this site is dealing with the same/worse seizures so hang in there. I could always be worse. Take care.
