Vimpat & Weight Gain

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Hey Folks.
Anybody on Vimpat and gaining weight? I sure am and man, it just sucks. I started Vimpat in 2015, 200mg AM, 200mg PM, and I was 140 Lbs and now I am 180 Lbs. Yikes, at least my dog doesn't care that I blew up, but I hate it and I am trying like crazy to lose it, but not having much luck. I have remained seizure free which is a great thing, but that weight gain just sucks! Thanks, and all of you just rock!!

When I was taking the vimpat I used to run into walls and fall at least twice a day. The worst part was when it was witnessed by others. Yes, I have gained weight too and I don't like that either. Running into walls and falling without anyway to stop it. I told my neurologist and he stopped me from taking Vimpat which pretty much stop running into walls. He started me on Fycompa and that has helped.

I've tried vimpat around eight months ago. I was on it for only one month then taken off since it caused me to vomit.
I'm taking lamotrigine and oxcarbazapine now.
