Long EEGs
Does anyone have any thoughts on 72hr+ EEGs? I've never had one this long.
How did you sleep? Those things always hurt my head.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member i think we are on the same page with the old school laptop/ game cube thing. mine was like the old school apple imac g3 sort of thing. i had to get the hospital eeg thing because one is 1/2 an hour, one is 2 hours, and one is about 5-6 hours away. when i was young i mainly went to the 6 hour one.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member . When I sleep , Don’t roll much unless I have a seizure, which is often. When I was younger ( adolescences - teens ) I use roll all over my bed . Half the time I would wake up on the floor.
I have done the Home EEG once. They had me do a take home EEG after my brain surgery. The electrodes were hook to a cube shaped modem . If you’ve seen or remember the Nintendo Game Cube, the size was similar to that . I don’t know if the modem size has change . EverWhere I went I had to carry the box with me. I had to do this for about a week . Then went back to my Epileptologist. They had to hook the modem to a computer and we wouldn’t know the results until my next appt.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member. When I was using the hospital beds 🛌 , I needed 4 or 5 pillows to make me comfortable. I normall slept on my back. I was usually up through the mornings, until my body started to shut down.. The electrodes never bother me. I always had an activity bag with things to do when I’m in my room.. the special unit I was in was all carpeted. So if I wanted to I could leave my room and go to the leisure room and visit with others who are dealing with seizure issues. It was a home warming unit . It was like staying in a normal hospital room
It will be a monitor I take home. 96hrs. I've had plenty of EEGs just none this long. Sleeping EEGs always leave bruises on my head. Maybe a neck pillow? I sleep on my side and back, don't have a preference,
They shouldnt hurt your head at all. Maybe uncomfortable or even itchy. Ive had several 72hr eeg's and really the only bothersome part is the small monitor you need to carry with you.
