Can Someone Describe “uncontrolled” Seizures To Me? Like, Does Medicine Not Work?
Uncontrollable seizures are where they happen out of no where and medication doesn’t help
christi76 it's GREAT you ask this question because so many people are very clueless about this! Just because you are prescribed medicine, sometimes multiple prescriptions, there is no guarantee, no sure-fire way to stop them from occurring. The medicine may "control" them to some degree, making them less frequent, not as severe, etc. However, there are many people out there, myself included who, play (and I'm quoting Kimmiehas3kids) prescription of the month til they realize the side effects are almost as bad as the seizures. For YEARS my mother would question/scold me "did you take your medicine? If you took your medicine, you wouldn't be having seizures!" She didn't get it until so many years later when I was on four different medications. My doctor finally told me if I didn't have brain surgery, I would probably be dead within five years. I was having more than 20 gran mal seizures a week. The week I had my surgery (March 2006), I had 34 gran mal seizures. I have not had another gran mal since, Praise God! I started having absence seizures a year later. Happened every 6-8 weeks then those stopped last year altogether! Praise God! I'm still taking Onfi and have been for 10 years now.
I have auras that lead to tonic clonic seizures and I use Ativan for to stop the progression it pretty well knocks me out
I have uncontrolled seizures. I am on five different medications that are Lamital, Tegretol CR, Vimpat, Rivitrol and CBD and try each new medication every time a new 1 comes out and have had surgery twice. I have about 6 to 8 or more Comlex Partial or grand Mal seizures a month and have about 4 auras a week and can have them at any time, not knowing when I'm going to have a seizure so often has given me lot of anxiety because of it, I have to be around someone that knows about my seizures 24/7 that's usually family. I can't work because of that. It's not fun having uncontrolled Epilepsy.
Medication helps me out a lot. I can sometimes go months without seizures before getting another one. But I also time when I will get 1 or 2 seizures a month for like 3 or 4 straight month. If I miss a dose I most likely will get a seizure 1 ,2,or 3 days later
Can Someone Please Explain What An Aura Is? What’s It Feel Like?
