So Over All...if You Take Keppra, Would You Say That Eventually My Dose Will Be Increased?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I have Myoclonic seizures (jerks), but since being put on Keppra, God has blessed me with no jerks, seizures, nothing!!! I take 500 mags., 2xs a day...it’s worked amazingly for a month...how long before they increase doses usually?

@ Marg some doctors get it wrong ,and many patients all over the world have either died or been seriously medically injured due to being misdiagnosed .
In my researched some patients figure out their own health issues through there own research and have ultimately saved their or a loved ones lives .
So your comment about how some people think they know more then a doctor ,it most cases they usually do .

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member God has everything to do with it. Who do you think gives the scientists the wisdom to create the medication and the MD’s the wisdom to use it. Js

I believe Keppra is just like the other meds as far as tolerance plays. Your body can get used to the medicine and you'll feel just like a 'normal' state of mind. But a breakthrough seizure can occur at any moment when suddenly your brain decides that the med doesn't want to work anymore. That's when they up your dose or add another pill of some kind. But if it works for you, then there should be no reason for having to increase your amount. It's hard to say if a specific dosage or a certain medicine combination is correct for controlling your seizures. It's all a guess & check game of trying different chemicals and then noticing how your body & brain reacts over time.

Hello, I started with 500 2x a day now am in 1500 2x a day. But I think everyone handles meds differently. You will have to see how your body reacts .

As I have said elsewhere if you are ok with keppra and you are having no seizures they will keep you on it. But my neurologist has recognized keppra is an old drug and I have been on it a long time so switched it to Brivaracetam. It has given me issues but hopefully it will get in my system and I will be ok.
