Lamictal 200 Mg

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Tehran

I am taking 150 mg Lamictal twice daily (total 300 mg daily) for a long time. I take one 100 mg and for 50 mg , I cut 100 in half
Now I can’t find 100 mg Lamictal so the pharmacy gave me 200 mg tablets and 50 mg tablets
I have to cut the 200 mg in half and take a 50 mg tablet.
I don’t know why, but I am a little scared. I don’t know if it makes a difference or will it be the same? Because when you cut the medication in half, sometimes a piece is bigger than the other one.
Has anyone done… read more

I have to cut one of my pills in half to have an extra half at bedtime than I do at breakfast time. It doesn't matter that it is not an equal cut. It is not enough of a change for your body to even recognize it and is not a threat to your health (one of my doctors explained this to me years ago when I asked the same question that you just asked of him).

I too have to cut mine in half..the oblong ones are easier..the white triangle looking ones have a line that's supposed to make it easier..look closely and u will see the line isn't exactly center. I believe some nights I get 175 and other nights 120?? Idk..its frustrating as the doctors make such a big deal out of this drug and proper dosages..then leave you with an off center split pill.

I do it all the time, use cutter as mentioned if they r already scored u can just break them in half. NOTE: Not all meds can b halfed especially if time released. Always check w pharma first.

I have done it many times with certain meds. The easiest way for me cut the meds was by using a pill slicer. They are easy to find at any pharmacy.
