Sleep Deprivation The Night Before An Eeg, Arent They Always That Way?

Has anyone ever had a neurologist recommend an eeg, and give instructions specifically to not deprive yourself of sleep the night before? Only no caffeine and the clean dry hair routine

Sleep Deprived EEGs is an old technique. I had those EEG’s done 3 different times when I was a kid. My Insomnia, I blame on that EEG technique..

They stopped with that in my state. The now just have you come to the clinic or hospital and have us lay one a bed . They start with they test . Opening and shutting my eye and the strobe light. After those they have rest and if you fall asleep , that’s even better.

Yes. It helps to get better results. When your sleep deprived it tends to trigger more activity for them to monitor

The technician that did my eeg was happy i deprived myself of sleep. She told me that it helps them to get more seizure activity recorded usually if you do deprive yourself. She had no instructions as to why i shouldnt have, even made a call to the neuro nurses since its all in the same hospital. They told her they had no recollection or record of giving those instructions. I know positively i was told that my neurologist said NOT to deprive myself. I guess its one of those im glad i have the history to have known. All she could tell me was we had a good test. I told her when i was having the tingling in my hands and feet and it was a lot so lets hope it showed up!
