Keppra And Vimpat

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Phoenix, AZ

My husband is currently taking 2500mg of keppra daily and also 400mg of Vimpat. Since he has been on the medication he has lots of symptoms, headaches, dizziness, slurred speech, blurry vision, unstable feelings and tounge going numb. He hasnt had a seizure since being on the meds but is it going to be okay long term to be on so much medication? He also has mood swings and anger. Any advice?

for the long run I would not recommend him being on that much medicine that one time I was on 24 pills a day now I'm on four pills a day. But lately been having a lot of focal seizures.

I had to stop taking both of those medications for the same side effects. I am now on topiramate and the side effects are much milder. Sadly with my refractory epilepsy I continue to have harsh and violent seizures so probably looking at another medication soon.
