Seizures And Cats

I had a bad gran mal seizure in the shower last week and our cat witnessed it. Ever since then our cat has suffered from cystisis. According to our vet this is caused by stress to the cat and there is nothing much they can do but the cat will get better. As anyone else experienced this with their cat?

I’ve had cats since the beginning & all my cats warn other members in the household if I’m having a seizure. Once the seizure is done I go to bed due to tiredness. All my cats have stayed w/me till I wake up. They make sure I sleep ok & r ok.

I have a cat. And she has been able to warn me when something is going on with my health.

I'm allergic to cats, but yet this is a side effect of stress. I am sure the cat will soon get used to this happening every now and then. Be more gentle with your cat when this happens, so as to not show them any sign of fear or to be scared of you. Animals are like humans, but we love them dearly. My dog knows when I've had a seizure and stays by me when he knows I'm not well.

No, however if I am having a bad day with my epilepsy Poppy (my cat) tends to stay as far away as possible! My last cat used to always come and curl up either beside me on top of my bed or behind me on the sofa (depending where I was) if I wasn’t well with my epilepsy. It’s odd how different pets react. Exactly the same as the way that different humans react I suppose. When I was staying with my Mum, she had a Rottweiler and a large mongrel ( I think he must have been part Irish Wolfhound) and I don’t take an aura but if I was going to have a seizure Zara (the Rottweiler) used to start pacing in front of me. Animals really are amazing.

I’ve had my gorgeous kitten for 6 weeks now. My dog could tell when I was going to have a seizure and would walk round and round my legs but I had to rehome her when I had my amputation. My new kitten has seen about 10 seizures and at first seemed to be frightened by them but in last week or so when I come round she is sitting beside me. Maybe 1day I might be able to tell by what she’s doing if I’m going to have 1 would be good coz I don’t know, but even if she doesn’t it’s just nice to have her beside me afterwards. Hope your feeling better Darryl, take it easy. Sending hugs 🤗🤗🤗
