Has Anyone Had Any Success Using The Modified Atkins Diet (MAD)..?.?..
The diet-plan is the only thing I have not tried for seizure control...
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member i was a tween when i 1st started on the keto diet... i am 35 now. i didn't remember the before keto. all i know is i was a wild monkey man... my meds didn't work so my dr (at that time) tried alternative meds and a hippie dr (diet dr). hippie dr tried keto and i am still on keto to this day.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member i am not saying go keto or not. i am saying that this keto works for me. i am just saying do your research and test out the keto diet, atkins diet mediterranean diet, south beach diet.... and thing that helps with keeping your seizures at bay.
I haven’t began any diet just yet. I’m not sure if I will yet cause I’m afraid of losing that state of ketosis and then having seizures. Kinda like what happens when you miss one or two doses of your Meds
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member i am on the keto diet for 20+ years. both the atkins diet and keto diet has different types. i went with strict keto into loose keto. anyway i had a lot of seizures a day. then drs tried keto on me and the seizures were 1 day to every other day. and it was mostly aura seizures. we tried atkins way later (with the same results). i got used to keto so i switch to the loose keto diet.
i did my research... i when drs told me about keto, mom and i research it (i was a tween when i got into keto). research ' what kinds of diets will help with seizures '.
I have hypo-glycemia prompted seizures and have tried a variety of diets, but they did not work for me. When I regulate my diet to much I run on the edge of running glucose dry and seizuring.. The brain feeds on glucose. At this point in my life, age 61, I am going to do my best to eat healthy every 3-4 hours, hydrate myself throughout the day and get 6-8 hrs. of sleep a day.
