Sunlight Energy
After my recent seizures I am feeling drained of energy, tired and my bruises are taking a long time to heal. I have been recommended more time in the sunshine (not direct or midday sun) to help boost energy, help the immune system and ease depression. Anyone else think this helps?
Hi
I find getting up dressed and out is one of the best things that I can do for myself. I find if I don’t then I drag all day and I sleep a lot.
I have been doing a lot of reading lately on the emotional effects of Epilepsy and seizures. So obviously no answer needed. This is just for self reflection. Could the tired, drained feeling also be a depression? Depression can also slow healing. Going out in the sun is a recommeded treatment for Depression, so it's a great idea either way. My mom had Depression, and it drained her, slowed all healing, and she had a hard time with regaining any energy. There is a lot of research talk about Epilepsy, and Depression, as well as even Postepileptic PTSD. The brain is a big deciding factor on how we feel emotionally. If it is just needing more sun, also ask about maybe vitamin D. We do get it from the sun.
I agree with what Todd said and I need to be outside especially when its summer but if am out in the direct sunlight exspesally when its very hot for a long time am completely drained and have to go inside and take a cold shower and have something to eat and a lot of water to drink and take a long nap before going back outside even more so when working outside or doing anything strenuous and this goes on all day.
I go out as much as i can, when i could drive, beach bum on days off. But since the concussions, my level went way down, and sometimes sun, heat and how the clouds are triger them. I fight it and take water outside to work on my house and garden.
I take daily vit D and script every 2 weeks.
I am very sorry to hear about your seizures. I would definitely recommend getting outside as much as possible, just would be careful about too much sun. I run 5-6 days a week--it eases depression and anxiety, and after my diagnosis my neurologist PA has told me staying fit can benefit seizure control. I wish you the very best-please keep us posted on how you're doing.
