Does Anyone Hear See A Epilepsy Nurse As Well As A Neurologist?
Hey everyone,
I was meant to see my neurologist in a few weeks but it now looks like this isn't happening and I'm Being treated by the Epilepsy nurse up until my next appointment.
Has anyone here ever been treated by an ESN? If so what can a ESN actually do? And how many appointments did you have?
Thanks.
No. My Nuero is pretty good. We do most of our appointments over the phone. My choice. He will deal with any issues pretty quickly.
Yes. I have one and I don’t see her very often. In my appointment with her, my neurologist and doctor will be there too. I only see them around 4 times a year. You can change nurses if you’re not keen on them. I did when my epilepsy nurse didn’t even believe me or know what to do in certain seizure situations. An ESN just helps around discussing what medications should be used if your current one isn’t working fully or something.
i never had to deal with a nurse for my epilepsy.... but what was interesting was that my nurologist where i live shared more than my old one where i grew up.... plus my epilepsy seizures have not occurred as much presently
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member This was one of the reasons the Neuro wanted me to see the Nurse practitioner I think. It's mainly due to my condition changing and he's trying to find better ways to treat it. Plus it means I'm now going to the Neruo clinic anyway so the ESN just has to make a phone call and he can arrange a group appointment. So it works out better I think. They already operate in groups this is just a better version of the treatment I already get.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Yeah, this is what the set up is like where I am. You have an Epilepsy nurse coordinator then there is a team of nurses that sit below that. I have an idea though that as a department they only have one or two ESNs then the rest are just RNs with epilepsy experience, but they mainly only answer calls. From what I know the whole department is based at the biggest hospital in the metro south area and it is all done from there. I normally just see a Neurologist every 6 months, but he wants me to do this now. I think it’s mainly due to the condition slightly changing but what this really means I’m not sure.

I’ve Got Another Question And It’s A Good One Too. Why Is It When It Comes To Big Companies That We Don’t See Anybody Supporting Epilepsy
