I’ve Got Another Question And It’s A Good One Too. Why Is It When It Comes To Big Companies That We Don’t See Anybody Supporting Epilepsy

awareness or even my main condition, which is hydrocephalus? You don’t see big companies supporting either one of these two I’ve just mentioned why is that companies support things like breast cancer or feed the hungry but you never say anything. Any company support anything like this condition?

Even though Epilepsy has been around for thousands of years, , people still had some form of fear with ?

Because of this BIG Stigma surrounding Epilepsy , we weren’t well Educated about , if any education at all . People believe in the myths of Epilepsy. Beliefs like……….
We are Witches
Stay away , because we are Contagious
We are Cursed / possessed by demons

These are a few myths of Epilepsy.

We need to Pray for the future generations of our children, to get Educated better through school ( K - 12 ) .hopefully this stigma will fade away.

When I worked at UCLA NPI in the 80-90. There were multiple organizations that supported Seizure disorders. Medications were tested in protocols. Psych . Testing with med. at different locations around the world. National Institute of Health have programs around the USA and around the world.
The Epilepsy Foundation has places around the country with Social Worker you can talk too. There are many other groups that support people with seizure disorders. When working 30 years ago I went to meetings in Los Angeles! There are phone lines you can get support, too. We are not alone. It seems like we are but we are not! Contact your physician or neurologist in your area , many have their own support groups!

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member You can’t fix stupid, not even with duct tape. And you are so right, you don’t need that person in your life.

The bottom line? If there are profits there will be a better likelihood of support from corporate powers. Epilepsy affects a SMALL percentage of the population = little if any support.

I agree that people think that they can catch epilepsy. There’s not enough information out there to educate people about epilepsy . I had a friend once who had a migraine and went to the ER. She called me in a panic asking what my symptoms are. In my head I was thinking does she really think she has epilepsy. Turned out it was a bad migraine. I don’t talk to her anymore. I don’t need that kind of ignorant attitude in my life.
