Are nightmares common with seizure disorders?

All humans have nightmares. Having studied epilepsy for decades it can be linked anecdotally to anything. If you have trouble with recurring nightmares (I have had them), my suggestion is to find a good psychotherapist. Dreams are the way that we work out our issues during REM sleep. It is apparent we need our dreams to function whether we remember them or not. Those who don't dream are in mental institutions, prisons, or dead. I would not assume after decades with neurologists that they have the answer for you.

Strange, I had a really bad one in fact last night. I can’t remember what it was, but it managed to wake me up four times during the night - that is with a 10ml melatonin and being properly hydrated. May also be that I have led a “not so good” life for a long time. Hey, if you ever manage to remember the nightmares specifically, journal them. If you are seeing a therapist you might want to bring them up with you. The therapist may be able to shed some light on what they mean. For me, I also enjoy writing about horror and sci-fi stories, so nightmares often come to me as well, but I see them as something welcome, writing material even. I have a story called “sitting on the edge of the world” that I have been working on for a few months now and it came together because of a nightmare that had a lovecraftian horror

I actually looked on Google and it told me that recurring nightmares can be linked to Focal Aware Seizures, which I have been diagnosed with..

Don’t worry about them. I have been dreaming every night since my first seizure. Drugs have changed and been added. All though last night I don’t think I remember much of them. Ate a lot of food even had cookies in the middle of the night when I let the dogs out. Doctor told me two day ago I needed some pounds

Generically , there are medications that have the side effects of causing dreams. So your nightmares could be possibly of having any form of dreams
