I read somewhere that some antiepileptic meds can actually cause absence seizures. Seems there are side effects to all of them

I take Oxcarbenpine and Keppra. Oxcarbenpine was added when Keppra was not enough to have any control over my seizures. I don't have absence seizures anymore. I still stare into space something but mainly because I may be thinking about something or control a stressful feeling.

Depending on what seizures one has, one medication isn't enough. I am taking Oxcarbepine right now. Years ago, found out something else was needed to control my seizures. Talk to your doctor and ask if there is another medication that can work with what you are taking.

We are all different so I can only tell you my experience with antiseizures medication. Yes, when I first started taking antiseizure medications I was still having absence seizures It took me several years to stop having absence seizures even when I was taking my two antiseizure medications. I now only have focal seizures except on July 26, 2023 I had an absence seizure so that was because I was at the end of having a CT scan. My first CT scan in years. This happened in a hosptial so I was taken straight to ER to just rest.
You are doing good learning all you can. I am still learning and I had my first seizure in 2017.
Have a great day.
