Can A Seizure Happen 24 Hours After A Trigger ?
I had some eye tests done yesterday which included lots of flashing lights and I had a seizure this morning. Could the two be related or was that too long ago to cause an issue?
I had been told by a neurologist that flashing lights can cause various onsets within 24 hours of the flashing.
I don’t have a clue. I would say ask the Nuero. But do they really know?? Everyone of us are different. I played some video games with my grandson the other day. I wondered about it so far so good.
YES, that is quite likely. It is pretty common: I remember back in my college days, when my appreciation for beer was quite significant, the "morning after" I would do that I would have a seizure. Don't drive if you have this condition!
Actually this could mean that you have photosensitive seizures and even after 24 hours after seeing the flashing lights, it’s still possible for a seizure to happen, because the brain 🧠 has it in its short term memory and even imagination of the flashing or flickering lights can cause a seizure if you’re photosensitive (depending on the severity).
Hard to say. I've never heard of a delayed seizure myself, but that's just me.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member My seizures started with flashing lights (from a videogame) and after like 7 years it changed. I've played many videogames since then with no problem, but I do remain cautious just in case.
