Taking Antihistamines (hay Fever Tablets) While On Keppra?

Does anyone know why it is recommended you don't take Antihistamines (hayfever tablets) while on Keppra? What are the risks if you continue to do it?

When I was on my old meds I Waa told I ok with antihistamine still couldn't take alot of other stuff though. I'm not sure how correct this advice was now. Maybe I should have just never taken it.

Hi Jack, I assume they interact in some way and lower the seizure threshold?

Hi Jack - it increases likelihood of seizures for me. I was traveling, came down with a terrible cold, and thought Iā€™d get through it with antihistamine and decongestant. No one ever told me not to take those while on anti seizure meds. So, it caused me to have a day of gran mal seizures alone in my cabin on a cruise. Really bad day. Since then, I manage colds/allergies with saline spray, air filters in my house, masks from pollen when outside and more water, tea, juice and rest when sick. Be kind to yourself.
