I don't know of any AED's that target a specific area normally they will be either Multi-use and work for a number of different seizures or they only work for a certain type of seizure. The other thing is it depends on whether you get Focal or Generalised seizures this also plays a role in what AED gets used.

As I read more of these posts, it seems all of these anticonvulsants have
significant side effects. My most significant side effect is short term memory loss.
I have read many posts with similar complaints.
Is there an answer to this problem?
The other most frustrating part is that I complain to my neurologist and I am told
that I am already on the medication (Dilantin ) with the fewest effects on
memory.
I would like to stop taking my Medication and see what happens.
I know that is not the answer, but after 40 years of this disorder and medication,
I wish there was an alternative to my situation.

Hey there Diane!
According to my research Carbamazepine, phenytoin and valproic acid can be used to treat that type of seizure.
Talking with your physician seems most appropriate however.
Take care!
