Has anyone ever tried acupuncture to help with seizures? No medicine is working and my mother thought acupuncture might be a good thing to try

I go once a week. Yes it helps me feel better, but as for epilepsy, NO, it does not do anything. I have had focus seizures all my life, only thing that helps me, is to psych it out. I've been on meds all my life. Tried them all. I have the weird kind. Only occurs when weather changes or bad rains are about to come.

Accupuncture can be helpful and beneficial for a number of reasons, but it will not help control seizures.

Hi Emily my daughter has epilepsy too , none of the meds worked for her when she was diagnosed aged four so she has used very low GI diet she is also gluten and dairy free , check no foods are bothering u maybe get an intolerance check done ? Basically living life on good food seems to keep her well most of the time , it’s definitely worth a try . She was having 50 a day aged 4 then ketogenic diet made her seizure free but now she does low GI . Nuts roasted veg avacado lots of good oils , mct oil is great as it feeds the brain fast . Basically sugar and white flour products do us no favours avoid anything contains msg , aspartame, soy sauce and all rubbish . A good app to get is living better it’s a deliciously Ella app it’s all gluten dairy free and very healthy. I wish you so much luck Emily I know how hard and unfair the whole thing is but I think we can keep some seizures at bay with good diet , trying not to get stressed , staying hydrated and getting 8 hours sleep a night .

I have seen an acupuncturist /Holistic doctor for quite a few years now. He helps with overall health and is good for the side effects of the anti seizure meds. He has also been a help for my depression and emotional health. But it is not enough without the medication. Just a complimentary therapy.

I would love to try but insurance doesn’t cover it!
