Happy Birthday David! Regarding the flashes when on the phone, this can be a new form of aura and potentially also a new form of seizure if you have never been diagnosed with epileptic partial seizures. Epilepsy is a mutating disorder that can add auras, triggers, seizure types, etc. and even mutate the forms of current seizures and bond a pair of seizures. And it can take away auras that warned you of all of your seizures. I know because all of that has happened to me and has been confirmed to be possible by experts. Have you talked to your neurologist about this new potential aura and/or seizure form?

You can find all of these details through exploring the Epilepsy Foundation websites or doing specific searches on this site and the many others:

In my case, I learned about the mutating nature of Epilepsy my reading a medical book at work soon (while on a break) back in 2000 when I started to work at Massachusetts General Hospital Treadwell Library.

Yeah, and it is even more challenging with my arm tremors from all these years of epilepsy that are not caused by a seizure and that increase with negative emotion levels. And, on top of that, my fingers are so wide that I can easily hit 2 keys on the phone when texting. I have to concentrate on hitting the check mark that appears when I put in a word (or person's name) that is not already in the dictionary of the cellphone so that it keeps the word rather than changing it to what it believes I meant.

I wouldn’t rule out anything with these phones. It knows the words before you and they’re not in context with what you were writing. Sometimes I think it is a mind reading device. I don’t trust them for anything.
