I had a stroke a month ago. My hubby watched me and decided this was not seizure activity and called the EMTS. I got the drug that you have to have within 3hours so i was very lucky. I have some weakness on my left side but it is stronger already after all the rehab. I've been reading that people with epilepsy are more likely to have a stroke. Did anyone else know this? Have you experienced strokes too? What alarms me is unless someone knows you really well, they won't know you were having a… read more

Anxiety and stress are different. And antidepressants, anticonvulsants, high blood pressure medicine and their equivalent medications for other conditions are NOT CURES but rather aids. As my first neurologist explained to me, it doesn't matter if he raises the dosage levels to its maximum safest amount if I cannot do my part to keep stress, anxiety and depression under control and get enough sleep (CPAP sleep in my case -- but that was after 2004), then none of the medicines will be able to help me. Antidepressants do not PREVENT depression but rather lessen the depth of the downs and length of them. However, if you get depression and anxiety to the levels that I have had over these last 2 years, then the only hope is to successfully complete Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) with the help of a trained therapist. I am very near taking down my Wall of depression and anxiety, and when I am through, then the more positive me will have a firm grip on depression and anxiety. And I will be transformed into a more positive me that no one (including my parents) in the world has ever seen. This will allow me to like myself, forgive myself and give myself credit for what I have achieved. However, the work of CBT continues for the rest of my life, along with getting enough sleep and avoiding my triggers (because even in a long-term seizure free state those triggers might not bring on a seizure, but they can still affect the body. For example, my trigger of summer heat has changed (as a friend on here had told me that it would) that if exposed to the heat of an oven (being in the kitchen too long when it is on for a long time) or the heat warming the house in winter, then I have an internal heat (not measured by a thermometer because it is not my body temperature) that rises and starts with a mild headache and can possibly lead to migraines or worse. The heat in the house must be on in the winter for the others, especially my mom, but most of the vents in my room are blocked or off so that it doesn't get as hot in there as in other places in the house. Considering I've had epilepsy since I was 5 and am now 65 plus I'm on 4 different seizure meds 2 of which are in that ben something group and 1 is used also for anxiety I don't think with the dose I'm on I could get stressed. It ended up being from an arrhythmia thing I had never heard of before I my heart throwing a clot. Luckily I got that clot med quickly and I have fu) use of my arm and leg just working on strength.

Stroke leading to Epilepsy

Stroke leading to seizures and potentially epilepsy: https://www.myepilepsyteam.com/resources/how-st...

Conditions Related to Epilepsy

NOTE: High Stress alone (most common trigger of epileptic seizures) can potentially leads to Stroke and Heart Attacks. And so can very high levels of some of the other common Conditions related to Epilepsy, but there is the above 2 links that show the direct path of Stroke leading to Epileptic seizures and then being diagnosed as an epileptic.
