This has been dwelling on my mind for years. I don't think it will ever stop. How often do you all work, or can you work? I have a job, but I have to call in many days because of seizures. So, I don't make much. Plus, last night, my boyfriend said that "I was like a roommate who pays less than half of the bills". We were arguing about my low libido (roommate). I guess he's just had enough. Either way, I feel bad about everything. I want to be able to work more. I want to make more money. I want… read more

I worked 16 years. I was an EEG Tech. I stopped working do to pregnancy. I had times working as a part time secretary . I wanted to live outside the house and become an attorney. I worked 3 years in a police dept. I went into Status during lunch break and lost my driver’s license. I went on SSDI. I really wanted to work. My parents moved so I went with them and city college had classes in Neurodiagnostics. I was trained for EEG’s and evoke response! Got a job right away! I worked for 3 years laid off because medi-care lowered rates! My Neurologist gave me a job right away!
I worked another hospital 5 years. My seizures lessened while working. I had 3 types of seizures. I was hospitalized 3 times. Went right back to work. My friend got pregnant and needed coverage I worked there 5 years until I got pregnant while being married. Disability saved me. My husband was grateful! I was too! I pray something will unfold for you! A place and good work experience. I do yoga to relax, listen to good music!

Thank you guys. I really can't live with anyone else besides my mother, and we don't necessarily get along for a long time. I've lived with my boyfriend for over 8 years, and he's spoken about it before. Last night, he just flew off the handle. It was awful 😞. He said I can't show enough appreciation for what he does for me. He just wants a physical relationship. Like I said, almost 9 years together.

Kaiti, hello.

First of all, it takes really "tough skin" dealing with Epilepsy. Mostly, people with Epilepsy have strained relationships with their significant other if they are not aware of how to deal with them. Explain to your boyfriend that, "low libido" is a side effect of most of our medications. My husband has been with me for 23 years, and I know he gets frustrated with me being forgetful, having mood swings, along with other side effects.

In terms of working...another difficult situation. I started a job in September 2021. By February 2022, my seizures were out of control. I had a few seizures at work and I have been off work (short term/long term disability) through my employer since then! I have been off work (with partial pay) for almost 2 years in February 2024. It happens!
