Has Anyone Been Prescribed Cannabis Medication?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I know it can help with epilepsy, 23years ago my rollups fags was spiked with cannabis, and it helped control my seizures, even though I never knew it was in them, I found out I was seeing a drug addict, so I left him after a 4 week, relationship. But now I wish I could have it legally.

I have been taking Epidiolex for a pretty long time now. It is CBD without any THC. It works well. We did just raise the Briviact from 50 to 100 mgs in the morning. I drank when I was in College, but very little. I could nurse 2 drinks for 4 hours. I did drink water and soda as well. I tried to smoke Pot once but it only made me talk more. I did not ever again.

Good morning, Babs.

You posed a very thought-provoking question today. While I am not quite sure about prescription medications to treat Epilepsy; I do know that doctors are beginning to use cbd (which is extracted from the cannibus plant) to control seizures.

I had never been an advocate for using cannibus to treat any illness, because it's stigma is primarily negative; and society never investigated its benefits. However, my husband and I watched a documentary about it's benefits in cancer, Epilepsy and Parkinson's treatment, and it was astounding.

Most people that prefer not to feel high, but want the benefits of cannibus (especially for treating children) choose cbd. It actually has a calming effect that relaxes the neurons and stops the seizures, with no side effects. Cbd controls part of the neurons, which is part of the endocannabinoid system (a portion of the central nervous system). This is why it works!

I have been treating my Epilepsy with cbd for approximately 1 year. It has helped my seizures greatly! I went from having seizures 2-3 times per day, to a small seizure twice per month. Cbd is not illegal, as you can purchase it at any store or dispensary, because it has no drug or "high"effect.

The previous epileptologist I worked with before my current one did speak to me about CBD as an option. He mentioned to me there has been so many positive studies with my type of case and asked me to consider the thought. We got onto another discussion with things changing so the CBD item never blossomed at the time.

Being with a new epileptologist there is always questions going through my mind of what if and so forth. With the state of mind taking place I may bring that up to him based on the next testing results that are found. I do appreciate this being brought about as it is a very big deal. Thank you.

Hi, Boronflower, I have had a VNS for over 7 years, it's been the most helpful thing I have ever used to help me with epilepsy, I know that it doesn't suit everyone, which proves that we are all different. Take care.

Hi, Boronflower, when I had it checked over few weeks ago, they said that the battery was getting low, so they turned it up a level, it feels like it's working + helping me, one thing I want to let you know is, I never used the magnet on it, I feel the stimulation from it is enough.
