Epilepsy Vs Nonepileptic Seizures
Apparently, NES are 2+ caused by things like stress. Epilepsy is seizures that apparently have no cause. Don't all seizures have some sort of cause? Isn't stress one of the MAIN ones, or am I just completely wrong with this subject? It's confusing me.
The talk about the cause it can go both ways, Idopathic (unknown) or Brain injury or virus. But In General Yes Seizures would be triggered by stress. But this would be different from a NES.
Currently, there is still much to learn about seizures and what causes them. I believe most doctors, no matter the specialty, are too lazy to take the time to figure out what is "wrong" with a person and why they are experiencing certain symptoms. I've seen a lot of poor excuses for doctors. But my working theory on seizures is that they are either caused from psychological processing problems, like stress, or are caused from a brain injury. 1 neurologist has said that all seizures are caused from a brain injury, like hitting your head from falling off the bead as an infant. Seizures can start immediately or later on in life. (What I was told anyways). Now, what I know about NES is that they are psychogenic and cognitive behavioral therapy can help reduce the dissociation. Which is the thing, you're brain is not having a seizure, hence no seizure brain activity on an EEG scan. (To out simply). This means that your seizures are not neurological in cause and are psychological, could be stress or anxiety induced. Look up dissociative seizures and if this information resonates with you, then I'd speak with your neurologist and seek out a psychologist for treatments.
