Does Starting To Have Mild Seizures Mean That My Daughter Will Stop Having Seizures In Future?
My 5 year old daughter was diagnosed almost 2 years ago. Until last June every seizure she had, had been status epilepticus. But last August, she had very mild seizure which lasted only a few seconds. Does that mean that my daughter will stop having seizures in future?
Having mild seizures won’t mean that your daughter won’t still have Epilepsy. She could be seizure free, from control of the meds and still have her Epilepsy condition.
There are many people, with well controlled seizures. They are seizure free and are able to drive.
This is a question for a neurologist or better yet a Epileptologist (if you are lucky to have one).
You won't know until she is by a specialist.
One point that I can tell you about epilepsy (that I know is fact) is that epilepsy is a frequently mutating neurological disorder, thus it is adding new seizure types, triggers, aura types, and even mutating the form of an existing one into a more unusual or even rare form of a common seizure type is not out of the question. And there is also the possibility that the seizure is not caused by epilepsy. I had one that mimics the form of an epileptic seizure, but it was not diagnosed as an epileptic seizures. There are even some that do not have the origin point in the brain, i.e. seizures triggered by an irregular heartbeat.
