I haven't read the article (I am going to when it's not 10:30pm), but my understanding (& description) of absence seizures has always been that they have no physical manifestation & it's like you've just drifted off thinking about something (if I were younger, as if I were dreaming about some boy band; or like when it takes me forever to get my daughter's attention because she's watching Blippi on her iPad).
