How Would You Handle Someone Else Coming In To Do Some Of Your Housework Maybe 2 To 3 Times A Week? Would It Freak You Out?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

Well I was really hoping for someone to go with me to my doctor appointments to make sure I understand any changes and my husband also. Especially my neurologist. My primary doctor thinks I might be able to get someone to help me with the housework a few days a week also because I get so tired trying to do it on a daily basis. My insurance would pay for it if approved.

I have tried to have someone help me with heavy cleaning every couple of weeks, but I haven’t been able to get reimbursed. My doctors haven’t coordinated that with my insurance yet (some don’t communicate well because of their egos). I don’t know how to find someone to come to Dr appointments. But I do know that you have a legal right to a printout of the doctor’s notes from the visit after it’s typed into your chart. If they try to tell you differently, tell them to check with the federal courts. Then you can share it with your primary care physician and ask them to help explain it. I wish I could think of more for you. Best wishes… K

I have an Aide service that helps with my needs. They can go to appointments if scheduled when they are with you. There are programs out there just might have to look alittle bit.

If you're doctor is suggesting the service I think he is ,
Be aware that it can be a hit and miss with insurances, companies, caregivers and providers.
This service can also come at a great cost to you as an individual person.
Being eligable for such a service may title you and make it easier for others to claim you incompetent and take your independence and voice from you.
If I had known about all the personal prices and difficulties getting free I may have reconsidered.

I won't know until it happens, but offhand, it sounds just great. I would try to get out of the house while they are at work, but then I might worry even more. I learned that some insurance agencies have a nurse advocate, who can help arrange what services you are supposed to be getting. Go for it. If it doesn't work out, you'll be the first to know.

That would depend on the situation. If it was asked for or recommended to get it, or if it was someone extremely close to me offering it wouldn't freak me out. I say that because I'd be asking for it or that would be a person who did a number of unnecessary things in past. If it was the guy down the hall or cashier of the store, then questioning is it how nice I am being to others or good looking I am. Not freak me out ⁉️🤔🤣🤥 LOL
