Medication Study

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question đź’

Has anyone ever participated in a medication study for epilepsy? My hospital reached out to me saying they are participating in a study for a new med that needs more data, and they asked me if I'd like to participate. I'm 50/50 I do but i don't. I got the paperwork and read everything over the possible 'bad " outcomes or the pros. I could or couldn't be on a placebo. 33%chance of getting a placebo. If you ever did a study. Would you recommend it? I just personally feel it's helpful for… read more

I haven't been on medication experiments but when my doctor changed my medication they would make sure that I was on the right one. I did have a bad reaction to Depakote and my doctor took me off of it.

I was on a medication study once.
I regret it. Being on a study drug you don’t know what side effects to look out for.
I remember times when I was at work. My supervisor was next to me and when I realized it. He said “you know how long I’ve been standing here”. I just thought that I was focusing on my work and didn’t realize it. Things like that happened a few times. I just thought that I was just not paying attention.
I had been on that medication for a while before My doctor had called and tells me to get my vision checked. I said to myself “my vision is fine”. Eventually I made an appointment.
That’s when I found out that I have narrow vision. If I knew what side effects look out for. my narrow vision would not be as bad as it is.That explains why I wouldn’t notice a person next to me right away.

I'm apart of one that may or may not be still going. Which is taking B6 to limit the side effects of Keppra. The study has been going for a few years now.
