Who Else Has Autoimmune Epilepsy?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Minneapolis, MN

I have to take epilepsy meds and see one doctor and now, in addition, I'm seeing another doctor for the autoimmune part and a different med and now have to do lab work every 2 months. What else should I expect? thank you

They just need to check your white blood cell count often. Also probably platelets. They might have to do a different tmt.
I don’t have that type of epilepsy but got tested for it. I got tested for it.

Autoimmune is the magic word. All you can do is watch this as they apparently are. Your autoimmune system is related to other potential diseases like Diabetes Type 1, Lupus, and others. Really. I developed Diabetes T1. Two friends developed Lupus. Let them check you as often as they think is prudent.
