Advanced Medical Directives
My mind has wandered to the morbid. I want to know what you would do about an advanced medical directive regarding your medications. I know in most non-epileptic situations all medications are stopped during hospice or palliative care. As for myself, I don't think I could withdraw my medications. And it may not even be advised. In the U. S. You want to do a Will. You don’t want probate to come
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member I think this is what the post is about. And it just asks how the process would play out if you were in that situation.
Mary, I haven't thought that far ahead, I currently am dealing with my dad & other things so not on my mind at the moment.
But here's the thing, if you are still cognitive, withdrawing you from other meds might be okay as part of an advanced directive as it's probably for the physical health. As for myself, I wouldn't stop taking my AED's as it's for the neurological / brain function. The hell I'd go through if I intentionally stopped taking my AED's while my heart is still good would drive me insane & I'd have to live through it until my body gave out which may take a while longer.
Dear, Mary we probably need our meds to live properly until we die. That is what is spelled out in the advanced directive a Kiaser Permanente . I for one am donating my body to science through Scence care in AZ. There is a local branch in Long Beach Ca. Every part of your body will be studied and put to use some how. Christina and I had fun setting up our services including some music from our wedding. I don't want to miss it Darn it. !! Ericthom3
@jake994 I would think so too, but I don't want my family to see me having seizures during our last times together.
