I am so glad that I found out something new about the causes and triggers of seizures. I seen a new neurologist today and had all of my questions answered. My EEG test results showed that my seizures were in my right temporal lobe. I asked the neurologist about the right type of water to drink and was told purified drinking water with lemon or use the BRITA pitcher with the filter. Another thing was that I asked the doctor if I needed the Neuropace RNS System or VNS Therapy and the neurologist… read more

I remember hearing from my neurosurgeon when we were setting up the mapping for the Deep Brain Stimulator every person with Epilepsy is unique because of multiple factors. The main factor being what section of the brain a seizure spike begins then where it stops. In my case, when running the mapping test every spike begins on the left then stops on the right.

With that being said, specific mapping was done to ensure the best coverage so regardless of how hard or soft the seizure it would be covered by the DBS device itself. Because of the DBS lead coverage in brain, the intent is to catch seizure activity before it takes place physically. The DBS leads are constantly learning.

The best example I can give on how well the DBS device is working is 10 days before VNS device replacement surgery, when seizure activity would come about based upon heaviness of spike the DBS took control. I actually felt the device manage the activity and stop what was taking place. It reminded me of turning off an alarm clock, just snap and gone.

I take B-complex daily, taking it since 1999 and both doctors are happy with the dosage amount helping my two case *migraines and neurology* needs.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member: I understand that it is definitely different per person. I learned a long time ago that my body didn't need Magnesium or Calcium at that time. I try to do things naturally and listen to what my body tells me. I believe that my body speaks to me. I take a Women's Multivitamin and try to eat the proper foods as needed for my body.
