It took a long time and 3 appeals. When the judge what heard my Dr diagnosis was and the lady from the Department of Labor said what kind of jobs are available for people with my type of were able to do, I was granted my SSDI. It took about 3 years.

Same issue... I was on SSI from 10-17 years of age. They had my seizures under control for 2 years between the age of 15-17. Then cut SSI and said they felt/believed there was work I could do. But after 2-2.5 years the seizures slowly kicked back in. I lost my first job in construction, but they denied me getting back on SSI because I put in too many hours. I contacted an attorney that worked with these types of cases, I then started keeping track of my seizures including emergency records and kept my employment records of all my jobs as well. The timelines of my work and my seizures lined up. Showing I started a job, but within 1-4 days at the most after having a seizure and going to the ER, I lost every job I had. The judge then noticed the lineup & started questioning Social Security- They then made the mistake mumbling under their breath that they should have the employers wait a little longer and the judge heard them. I only had 3 work credits, but still got SSDI... I told them that there was no cure for Epilepsy (a neurologist confirmed it) & that they could or might get my seizures to stop again, but I would need to continue treatment to maintain control of them, not just get them under control again for a few years and then cut treatment.

Have you tried talking to a disability lawyer ? I was diagnosed shortly before my 2nd birthday.

I didn’t have great credit when I applied. In fact , I qualified for SSDI .

It took me a long time to get approved also, my Dr. approved me for my disability even after I had worked until I was 52, my seizures got really bad. On my third appeal, I got an appeal specialist that rec'd $6,000 out of my 3 years of back pay that I rec'd from the first time I had filed and I had been turned down.
