Racking My Brain But A Mate I Know Is Epileptic And He Was Telling Me With Epilepsy It’s Harder To Have Kids? Sorry For The Awkward Question

Im really sorry for the awkward question but this is a open non judgmental place to get help but it’s something that’s been racking my brain but a mate i know is epileptic and he was telling me with epilepsy it’s harder to have kids? Ive been single 10 years but i just wanted to know how accurate that is?

Again sorry for awkwardness

Honestly been scared to ask because it might make people uncomfortable or judge me for it

No question is awkward. Best bet is to talk to your doctor. I know people who have had kids that have had problems with Seizures.
I have had two boys, and they are all grown up and very healthy.
I think one of the things that I have heard is if yours is genetic that’s when they don’t recommend you having kids. But I would still talk to your neurologist and get some answers from them. It’s one thing to ask questions here, but everybody is different. What works for one person may not work for another.

I have Epilepsy myself and have 2 daughters. One has graduated from high school and is working her dream job. My other one is on her last year in high school. .

There is a 3% -5% ( if statistics hasn’t changed ) for a baby to develop epilepsy, from their mom or dad who has Epilepsy.

A person who has epilepsy actually do have fertility troubles, but are likely to be able to have kids.

I don’t have any children, but my best suggestion is go to get advice or facts from a professional. Go ask Your neurologist-they are the person that know the facts. Warnings about having children when taking a medication are not on a small sticker that are often seen on bottles of medication.

I had an amazing girl 24 years ago.
I wasn’t on as many drugs as now. But I had no problem with the pregnancy until the end. A week before she was born I had a gmal in car with a family member. Then I came out of it in the hospital.
But then an amazing doctor took my case then. Since then then I’ve been directed in the right direction with my case
