Are Any Of You Afraid To Live By Yourselves Because Of Your Seizures

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭

I'm only eighteen I'll be nineteen in two months And the last time I had a epilepsy seizure i was going to the bathroom at night and had busted my head open while in a seizure and luckily my sister was awake during the time But it makes me wonder what would have happened if i was by myself or if my sister wasn't up at the time.

There’s no way I could live by myself having seizures. There would be no way for me to go to the store and get groceries. Plus, I’ve had seizures since I was in elementary school. I’m not allowed to work much being on disability so I couldn’t afford anything. When my parents are gone I’ll have to be in a special home.

The only problem I would have is that I don’t drive and that would really cause a problem.

Really Good Advice! We each have to pay very close to how we are feeling and what we intake.

@JanetHuertas, you have to work on controlling your seizures first and foremost. If you are falling from having a seizure, you may have to talk to your neurologist about having some testing done to find out why your seizures are that way. It could be side effects, medications conflicting with one another or vitamin supplements. It can also be diet. Keep a diary of how you are feeling before taking meds and after. I have had an apartment for over 15 years and had seizures. But it wasn't until i was living alone i noticed i had to pay closer attention to the things i ate and drank to keep from having so many seizures. It depends on what kind of seizures you have and can they be controlled.

It's dif per person, but I have been living by myself when I was younger off and on, but I am married now and i don't notice any difference of be alone when I had my seizures happen, but being around someone can help you from not being injured and that is good, but I have been married for about,24 yrs now, then I have been around people when I had a seizure and then times I was not, I sometimes was let known I had a seizure and wasn't even aware it happened for a few days later, I think that.my condition is more stable than before but they happen time to time and once in a while at random, I am ok with that though, because at first when at 6 years old I was kinda unsure of what I had, but was diagnosed by a doc in er, that did take a load off me trying to guess what I was going through, but did, I have had a few bad seizures now and then, but not so much but once In a while I'd say, but I am ok overall with my condition I have had it's getting better than before, not complaining about it, hang in there and try and stay pos, I do so can you,
