As Anyone Else Gotten Dupulytrens Contractors In Either One Of The Hands Due To Epilepsy Meds. I’m Getting I’m Gonna Left-hand I Haven’t
told my neurologist yet but I’ve mentioned it to my general practitioner. mine keeps acting up and every time it does that I can I start to feel it in my wrist.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member - one of the suspected causes of Dupuytren's contracture is too low a level of vitamin D (caused by epilepsy meds) in body;

I only learned this after taking epilepsy meds for 2 yrs & then changing doctors. My new Epileptologist immediately told me to start taking vit D (plus Ca) to help me maintain bone health. I started at 1,800 IU/day of vit D but now take 2,800. Bone health is not too bad. But make sure you never increase Ca intake above 1,500 mg/dy.
Are you taking any vitamins?
I heard of Dupuytren's contracture before but never knew it could be caused by seizure meds. Wow.
Linda968,
I’ve had to get a brace off of Amazon for my left hand. This goes in spurts. It will sometimes act up during the day other times it’ll act up when I’m in a dead sleep during the night and wake me up and when it does that I end up putting the brace on and then falling back asleep for a little while until it starts to get uncomfortable at times I’m not always, but I can see it trying to curl on me when it starts to act up I’ve had days it does it several times during the day plus at night but I’m not supposed to go to my neurologist until January of next year. Oh, and by the way, thanks for putting the website and you’re coming to greatly appreciate it. I’ve read to let some epilepsy meds can cause the dupulytrens contraction.
