Been On Tegretol For Years. Have Osteoporosis From It. Now Dropping My Sodium Counts. On Keppra Without Problem. Any Other Good Meds?

My epileptologist switched me from Tegretol to Trileptal. Except for dizziness and double vision if I didn't eat something, I did OK taking it.

Some other anticonvulsant medications that may be options to discuss with your neurologist include lamotrigine, pregabalin, or lacosamide. To help manage your osteoporosis risk, be sure you are getting enough vitamin D and calcium. Regular weight-bearing and muscle-strengthening exercises may also help. Have your doctor monitor your bone mineral density to guide treatment decisions.
