I have been on Fycompa for over 10 years. My doctor decided to try it because of info he received from Cleveland Clinic. I was evaluated, but not a surgery candidate. I take Fycompa at night - 8mg. I also take Lamictal and Topamax. Fycompa has been a good addition for me. I've been on Topamax for ages and Lamictal for about 20 years. There were some other meds that we tried--but Fycompa has been the key. The only warning I will give you: make sure that you eat a little something when you take it. It does not cause stomach upset for me. However, if I don't do something to slow down the "breakdown" of Fycompa a little bit, it affects my balance and causes dizziness, usually within 1.5 hours. I probably wouldn't pass a sobriety test, because I couldn't walk a straight line! 😵‍💫
Otherwise, I've had a good experience with it. I'm not sure how much longer it will be before it is available in generic. It is expensive and sometimes prohibitively so, without insurance. It is amazing how these drug companies hide behind the phrase "research and development" to justify their prices, while making life so much more of a challenge for those who can be helped by their products--as if we aren't already challenged! Check with your doctor for samples, discount offers, etc. My previous neurologist always gave me samples. Sometimes if you read those packages, there are coupons or codes. Good luck with it! Let us know how it works out! 🤞

I just started it a little over 2 weeks ago. Wasn't paying attention, and just asked the same question 🤔. Been having some mouth numbness. I'm watching out for anything else. I'm on a 4mg dose.
