Advice Please! Have You Ever Reduced Medication Against The Advice Of Your Doctors?
Since January my 10yo had been taking clobazam, keppra, lacosamide, & valproate. In February her neurologist started her on lamotrigine to replace the valproate after she gained 50% of her original weight, constantly thought about food and became unmotivated and inactive. I might have when one of my medications was causing uncontrollable eye movements
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member, ramble on! That's how we help each other. I would continue to listen the doctor but always have questions during the visit. It will be tough controlling seizures for a while because she will continue to grow, and seizures will change. I was diagnosed at 18 months and was changing seizures as i grew older. I would also follow the doctor and remove her from Valporic. It will damage the liver and give mood swings. It wasn't fun when i was about her age. Keep a diary on how she is feeling before and after taking medication. Here is a website to use the next time you have questions about medications, https://www.drugs.com/

I follow the advice of a medical professional. Would not feel comfortable going against it
I would get a second opinion.
Generally, the advice is not to do this. IMO if you can get a second opinion. I'm not sure what's going on but if she has only been on meds for eight months then there is a chance she hasn't adjusted yet. The other thing is she's on 4 different meds, so this is most likely drawing everything out. The average adjustment time is around 3 months but can be as long as 6-12 months.
