Is Taking More Than 3000 Mg Of Seiizure Meds Dangerous Especially When They Are Different
I work is a longterm care facility as an aid seen nurses giving a female having to take 13 antiseziure medication. It is very hard on the kidneys. Excessive amount to be giving a epilepsic adult. Who ever the doctor prescribing they are a bad one. Not caring the longterm effects prescriptions dew to the vital organs.
Just as long as your meds aren’t making you overdosed , you should be fine. I’m on 6 different seizure meds , equaling to roughly 20,000mgs.
That much medication still doesn’t control my seizures 100%
There are many of us on multiple medicines.
@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member If you mean 3000mg dosage as in a combined total when you combine all your meds then no. It would be fine. The meds are made so they work together. The combined dosage won't matter that much there probably is some kind of limit, but I would ask a dr about it if you're worried.
Don't think you mean an overdose as AL warns of. But just amount the Dr prescribed. May be a combo of meds for various reasons as needed. Like if for muscles to relax + reg meds to avoid seizures. Any side issues no one here knows better than Dr how to explain why or what for in your case. Think of how meds are helping esp. for seizure control. Imagine if didn't have to help like years ago, it's great we live in the 1st century thru time to have them.
