My 14 Year-old Has Had 3 Seizures Since July. I Can't Identify Any Common Triggers. Are There Any Triggers That You Wouldn't Expect?
Welcome to the group!
It can be difficult to identify seizure triggers, especially when they seem random. Some less common triggers to consider are:
- Specific times of day or night, like while sleeping (source 5)
- Hormonal changes during puberty (source 5)
- Low blood sugar from irregular eating habits (source 5)
- Illnesses causing fever Show Full Answer

As a child my triggers seemed to be stress (school), fear, playing sports (burning energy), etc.I’ve heard caffeine can be a trigger but I never have had a problem with it.
I really don’t know what causes my break-through seizures. I do think that the last two were caused by stress.
There's a long list of possible reasons for the seizures. For me, it was usually stress, lack of sleep or getting overheated
