Hi AwesomeMellisa, There is no reason to be scared of them decreasing your meds or anything at all test does to cause seizures. I say that because they take you off the med in portions, as if you were changing med, don't just stop the med completely, be happy they do that. That is in the monitoring that seizure, med may be stopping. They then may be able to discover something very helpful in future aspects of seizures. I know that to be true because that is one of the tests done on me, decreasing meds,to discover areas of the brain able to be able to be removed. That being 13% of the 18% damaged right temporal lobe to decrease seizure count 90% and stop multiple after effects of seizures I have. I actually may will be going in for one myself soon. That because last couple seizures I had I did something different then before. I was able to catch it on recording with mom recording with her smart phone and giving to doc. to watch. My doc. couldn't see enough to make out if anything odd is happening and says that he may want that test done in the hospital to get better reading of it. Don't worry at all about EEG actually be happy your doc. shows enough care to have it done and take his time to read it. That may lead to massive positive change in actions of seizures. EEG💪🎁MONITORING =🎊🏆! TAKE CARE

Yes. They keep you in the hospital, in an epilepsy monitoring iunit, aka, EMU. For however many days, your neurologist wants the study done. If you’ve had an EEG before it’s the same thing you’re just being watched for a longer period of time. If you haven’t had an EEG before, basically what they do is, mark certain parts of your head to put the electrodes on I think they use crayons. Then put glue to hold the electrodes on top of your head. And use this cold air blower to make them stick. Then the wires from the electrodes gets connected to some kind of box, which reads your brain activity, Then they wrap your head up with gauze and tape. There’ s a person who documents what is happening in your brain. And, if you’re like me, you will have nurses and neurologist coming in and out of your room, to check on you. The worst part I found, was the God Awful Hospital Food. And of course getting that glue off of my head, Which if you’ve had an EEG before, you know what I’m talking about. If not, it sometimes takes two or three days of washing your hair, to get it off. Fortunately, for you, they now have some greasy stuff they use which helps a lot, before you go home to wash your hair.
I think it comes down to this. This video is a way to find out basically what you’re doing during a seizure, the EEG tells them where your seizures are coming from, how long they last, how many you have and maybe other things I don’t know.
But it gives your neurologist a clearer picture of how to treat your type of epilepsy.

I've done it it was easy like a normal EEG I didn't even know I was on camera unless they would talk to me through a speaker that was connected to the camera I spent 8 days in the hospital with it though so it was a long process
