There is limited information comparing the side effects of transitioning from Keppra (levetiracetam) to Briviact (brivaracetam). Both medications are anti-seizure drugs that work similarly in the brain. Some key things to be aware of when switching between these medications: - Side effects may change, so pay close attention and report any new or worsening issues to your doctor. These could include changes in mood, energy, appetite, etc. - Your doctor will monitor your dosage closely and may need to adjust it when transitioning medications to maintain seizure control. - Avoid alcohol or other substances that could interact with these medications unless approved by your doctor. Overall, work closely with your neurologist throughout the transition process to ensure effectiveness and minimize risks. Keep track of any changes you notice and ask your doctor any other questions.

I had to be home-schooled when I was on Keppra because I could NOT function or stay awake. Keep and eye on your loved ones on Keppra. I overdosed on amitriptyline (purposely) and ended up in a coma because of the side effects of Keppra. I started at 500mg per day and within two years was at 2,500mg before a different neurology team immediately took me off it. I also have tonic clonic seizures. Just keep a close eye. Doctors don’t go over side effects in detail and sometimes they should! ♥️
