Kymber: Hang in there, okay? I know how you feel, the same thing happened to me. And I have been dealing with this for almost 50 years! Keppra is a pretty "clean" medicine, it isn't too harsh, like Phenobarbitol or Tegretol. Just be sure it doesn't stop you too much, okay? Just about all epilepsy medications are designed to basically turn off your brain (turn the brain off, no seizures will happen). Yes, you need to control your seizures but you need to THINK too, which turning off the brain will stop also, so consider what they are telling you to do. When you get a chance look into something called NEUROFEEDBACK for your condition. It helped me. Regards, Jake

I suffered a head injury and a brain bleed when I was almost 2 years old. The blood suffocated my brain cells, killing them and caused my epilepsy. I didn’t have my first seizure until I was 10 years old but I still have seizures in my 40’s.

It sounds like you have been diagnosed with tonic-clonic seizures that resulted in brain bleeding in 2019. You are currently taking Keppra, an anti-seizure medication, at 1,000mg in the morning and 2,000mg at night (a total daily dose of 3,000mg). Tonic-clonic seizures involve muscle stiffening and jerking due to abnormal electrical activity in the brain. While scary, with proper treatment many people can get good control over their seizures. If you have any concerns about your medication dosage or side effects, be sure to discuss them with your neurologist.
