@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , If you’re suffering bad enough with the excessive tiredness, depression & if there’s anything else, don’t hesitate to pick up that phone & talk to your doctor’s nurse. You don’t have to wait till your appointment to let them know & keep letting them know if you can’t take the tiredness & emotions anymore. It’s your body & they won’t listen unless you keep updating them, if you feel the need. You don’t have to wait till May 2025 to give the doctor an update. If you feel you can’t wait till May, call & talk to the nurse & let them know what’s going on & that something must be done because you can’t take it anymore & can’t wait for them to do something in May. The nurse could talk to the doctor & see if they could adjust your meds or something. Your friend in Texas, Becky

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member Probably just check how much B6 is in it because you are meant to have 25-50mg as a minimum if you're on Keppra then the idea is to flush out and excess toxins with water (or any fluids you have) the B6 helps with that. If it works, it reduces the side effects.

If that doesn't work, then it could be another issue happening. I'm not sure what other meds you're on but there are some that can cause what is basically excessive tiredness (not its normal name) so it's possible you are getting that.

I have the extra B vitamins (complex) but the sleeping is getting deeper and at least an hour in early evening and 2 hours in the morning and obviously all night too. It’s pretty depressing to see only half of each day throughout the year! ☹️ Since taking more tablets I am told I snore loudly which I never did before. I’m on a mass of meds since having a large complicated tumour removed.
Thanks for replying Jak994.

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , You might just be experiencing the excessive tiredness that’s one of the side effects of Keppra. Many of us on this site experienced that when we took Keppra & didn’t like it. In mid 2019 I took Keppra for 2 or 3 months & it made me so tired that I had to take a nap every day & eventually I started having trouble sleeping & so I got off it. It was awful. I would suggest talking to your doctor & letting them know what’s going on & how you’re experiencing the excessive tiredness & maybe there’s a different medication they can find for you. At the time I was seeing a Neurological Nurse Practitioner for a very temporary time & she took me off my Trileptal & put me on the Keppra & due to the side effects, I told her that I had to get off that pill & so she put me back on my Trileptal. But my current Neurologist switched me to Vimpat & I’ve been on Depakote for over 25 years back when my Pediatric Neurologist started me on it years ago. But talk to your doctor, don’t put yourself through being that tired, it’s ridiculous. Everyone reacts to each medication differently but unfortunately it sounds like the Keppra is making you tired as well. Keppra can also possibly cause mood swings & anger issues & make people not act like themselves, all known as the Keppra Rage. I never experienced that. Good luck. Your friend in Texas, Becky

@A MyEpilepsyTeam Member , I’m so sorry for all you’re having to deal with. The only thing I can suggest is that you contact your doctor or at least talk to his nurse & keep pressing them on how tired you are & how it’s really having an effect on your body & emotionally if you feel it is. It’s your body, not theirs & so keep pressing them that something needs to be done because you’re having a hard time dealing with the side effects. These doctors know of the side effects but most don’t usually know how this we feel when we experience being this tired or whatever side effects we experience from medication. So call them & keep standing up for yourself, don’t let that doctor tell you oh you must continue on the medication even though it makes you tired. If you have to keep repeating yourself, then do it until they listen. I pray things get better for you. 🤗💜🙏🤗 Your friend in Texas, Becky
