Seizures And Appetite

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lorain, OH

This question just came to me.

Any correlation between loss of appetite and seizure episodes?

I had a major life change in 2014. Since then, I have been eating big meal a day and snacking throughout the last three years. After the breakup in 2014, I went 6 to 8 months with only once a day. Basically starving myself.

My question should have been :

Could me doing that to myself led directly to the episode or no? In everyone's opinion.

Sorry for the confusion and vagueness.

If you want to meet new people and develop long-lasting friendships, how do you discuss Epilepsy and the fact that you are living with it? How soon is too soon to have these discussions with new people?

Vns

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
San Antonio, TX

First step for the Vns is not bad at all. My mom is nervous. But I stayed strong through the whole thing. And did blood work also. Now ready for the real thing on October 4th.

Anita,
It's called Vagus Nerve Stimulation. It's like a pacemaker but for the seizure. As You feel a Seizure coming on, a wand is giving for You to wave over the Pacemaker to stop the Seizure.

Do You Remember Your Experience Before Having A Siezure? I Do, And Its Confusing...

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Fort St John, BC

So I have had about 10 in my life... and they are always grand mal, they seem to come around more often when I am not sleeping / eating properly and intensely stressful periods of life... but neither here nor there. My main question...

Do you know when the seizure's are coming? I do, and the feeling is very specific... eerily so... my brother (epileptic) and on medication cannot remember anything from the time It starts...

I was hoping to share my experience and hope that maybe it would… read more

Driving

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Canberra, AU

I'm just curious about your laws on driving with a diagnosis of epilepsy? In Australia the law is if you have a seizure or there are changes to medication you are not suppose to drive for a year. As long as you are seizure free. My neurologist has said that because I'm not a 18 yr old hoon! He doesn't call the authorities so I can be tagged. It used to be 3yrs or never.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Just be gald he's doing it so you can drive

I feel like when people are talking to me about random things I sometimes get this feeling like a random word almost sets something off?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

A trigger is something that will start a seizure. A simple example is not taking medication-that is a trigger. People take medication to stop seizures, so if a person does not take their medication… read more
