First step for the Vns is not bad at all. My mom is nervous. But I stayed strong through the whole thing. And did blood work also. Now ready for the real thing on October 4th.

I am having mine done at a hospital. And then my neurologist just increases it if she has too. And that's what they said that they changed and work better. Depending what model you do.

Anita,
It's called Vagus Nerve Stimulation. It's like a pacemaker but for the seizure. As You feel a Seizure coming on, a wand is giving for You to wave over the Pacemaker to stop the Seizure.

What is VNS? I live in New Zealand and I've never heard of it.

Good luck on getting ur VNS on October 4th. It is a piece of cake. It is just an outpatient procedure. I have had mine since 2007. I was having 18 grand mal seizures a day when I got mine. Although it didn't completely stop the seizures and didn't mean I could stop taking seizure medication, I now only have about 4 seizures a month and they r not grand mals! I have already had the " batteries " changed once and will be having it don't again soon. My VNS is set on the highest settings due 2 the severity of my seizures and that is y my " batteries " r having 2 b changed every 4 - 6 yrs. I think u will find that once u get urs it will greatly improve ur life!

I've had mine for about 17 years. It was difficult at first, having to adjust to it. Plus being seizure free from brain surgery for about 9 and 1/2 years. I was thankful they weren't as severe as they use to be, just didn't like they came back. Good luck!!
