Does anyone else’s seizures get really bad when their “time of the month” is about to come and is still going on??

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Yes I have experienced that before. More as a child, but yes. I have only had about 2-3 GM’s but that was more than enough. That feeling is considered an Aura. Sometime I would experience also… read more

Do You Know About The Epilepsy Foundation, Epilepsy Society Or Equivalent In Your Nation?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lakeville, MA

These non-profit organizations can provide a lot of help for those of us with epilepsy and the caretakers of a spouse, child, sibling, parent, etc. with epilepsy. If you do not know of the one in your nation, then please respond to this question with the following
Your nation. Your city or town. Your state, province, or the equivalent in your nation.

If you provide this then those of us in your nation can get you the links to the epilepsy non-profit in your nation and the branch in your… read more

When Did You Find Out That You Had Your First Seizure Or At Least First Witnessed Seizure? What Brought About The Epilepsy Diagnosis?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lakeville, MA

I ask this question because I just remembered the first time that I was told by someone that I had a Complex Partial Seizure. It was when working in Acushnet Rubber factory at some point in the first 5 months of the year (I worked for 8 months there before returning to college in the fall of 1997), and a coworker in that section of the factory had witnessed at least part of the complex partial seizure. Her husband has Epilepsy, thus she knew how to recognize a Complex Partial Seizure. After… read more

Have You Ever Read The Book A Mind Unraveled: A Memoir?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Lakeville, MA

If you have not, then it is something that you (as someone with Epilepsy, Seizure Disorder or are the caretaker for someone who is) absolutely need to read to understand how a New York Times best selling author (Kurt Eichenwald) shared his life story when he had his first seizure in the freshman year at college in 1979. By having friends and family members read this book, it will help them to have a better understanding on life with seizures and the scare that is generated by the word Epilepsy… read more

What’s Everyone’s Balance Like With Epilepsy.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Hewitt, MN

I can walk but if I were to walk Heel To toe , I would FAIL ! I can’t even walk straight next to my family and friends. Sooner or later , I catch myself drifting towards them or the other direction. Another thing I catch myself doing, is when I turn a corner , I would turn too sharp and bump the corner or wall.

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member

Well enough to move around , anywhere I go . Now if I were to walk heal to toe , like I’m on a balance beam , that’s a different story.

Hug And Useful

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Newcastle upon Tyne, UK

Just wanted to make a comment. Now I know I am just as guilty of this social media habit as anyone else. But we are in the habit if we are having bad days or good days by just clicking on the hug or useful icons. When really all of us suffering want someone to talk to or just to know that someone is out there listening and will help in whatever way possible. So to my team and everyone worldwide if you want someone to talk to don't be afraid to ask. Turn 2019 into a year where we can be there for… read more

What Does Everyone Do To Help With Mood Disorders?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Green Bay, WI

How do people control their anxiety and get themselves out of depression? In the past 6 months i have been able to “control” it without meds or therapy. Idk why but in the last 2 months, my anxiety has spiked to abnormal levels. After having a panic attack at work, i am now very depressed again. All i think about is something bad happening or i could have done this better. Its eaten me apart: ive actually lost 10 pounds in the last two months from stress

Getting Lost -- Epilepsy, Dementia, Alzheimer's?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Weston, MA

I've been having moments while I'm driving and suddenly don't know exactly where I am. Eventually, I figure it out, and I've never veered from my original intended route. Nonetheless, it's frightening to think this has happened three times. Is this epilepsy, early onset dementia, Alzheimer's or something else? Has anyone else experienced the same thing?

When Dating Someone New How Soon Should I Inform Them Of My Epilepsy?

A MyEpilepsyTeam Member asked a question 💭
Adelaide, AU

I am back on the dating scene and am curious when should I tell the guy I am dating about my Epilepsy? and how do I approach the topic?

I have not been dating for awhile due to other health issues but now feel ready to start dating again. I am also vision impaired and where that is quite obvious and explains away the reason I do not drive I feel a bit unsure of when and how to approach about my Epilepsy. Is it something I should mention to them right away?. I don't want to scare the guy… read more
