Has Anyone Had The Lazer Ablation Surgery Done? I
This surgery has only been done for the last 3 or 4 years. I had my done on June 23, 2015. So good so far. I believe doctors don't know too much because of the testing phase of it. I guess I'm considered a guinea pig. I just like to know what others feel about it or would anyone want to know about it. Let me know. Waiting for anyone who knows about this. Thanks!
That's good they're progressing with your diagnosis. Are your seizures controlled? Wow find someone that will listen to you. I have a friend that has grand mals, he's 43 now, but got his at 19 years old. His are controlled with medications and he's never had any kind of surgery. Let me know or keep me updated about options. That's if you want to.
Weill I went to see my neurologist today. It went well. He showed me the progression of my new MRI and how it was doing. He says there is still a tiny bit of lesion they couldn't get. But I told him I'm having a good week and that I'm being consistent with my meds, diet, exercise and things I need to do to follow my personal progression. I didn't go in there to tell every single thing in my life that was wrong. I went by my gut to concentrate on what I believe triggers my seizures. I told him that I know it's my part to control them on my own to change things in my life, beside the medication that is. I haven't had any seizures yet since the operation, 6 weeks ago. He said that was great and that he would help me monitor them and try to get me down to 1 medication. I'm still on 3 seizure pills now. So I'll see how it goes. I still need to take more MRIs down the road. It's expensive but I think my insurance will pay. But I still pray that will be taken care of.
Good hearing back from you. I hope your day is going good. I'm glad you have children to help you out. And it's great if they are very understanding. God bless!
Thank you for the information I am so glad that they were able to help you in such a noninvasive way and will keep you in my prayers that it keeps helping you. :) I love to hear of any new ideas as we advance in medicine I think we all hope for some relief someday.
Thanks for you encouragement. I've tried all of those meds you mentioned, to no avail. This was my last resort. Good results.
Best of luck to you. God bless!
Awesome! I'm so happy for you. Keep up the good work. God is on your side. I'm going on 14 months seizure controlled and being weaned off of Keppra first. I'm on Lacosamide (Vimpat) and Lamictal with the Keppra.
I include a good regimen of eating better and walking at least 200 minutes a week. That's helped with preventing depression and helping with my head and the seizures being better controlled.
God bless and please keep in touch. Take Care!
I think I'm a guinea pig, too. I was dealing with epilepsy for over 20 years. I tried at least 15 different meds, none of which made a difference in my seizures. Visualase MRI-Guided Laser Ablation surgery was the best decision I ever made.

I haven't had a seizure for more than 8 weeks (before surgery, seizures were every week). My neurologist will begin weaning me from Lamictal in October.
