Vagal Nerve Stimulator
Never had it done
Have you spoken to your specialist about it. It's nothing major they give you a general anaesthetic whilst they do the operation and cut a little pocket near your collarbone and insert the little gizmo that does all the work this contains the battery etc and then another lead is passed up into your vagal nerve. If you type in Google (CYBERONICS) it should bring up details on the op. Good Luck.😀
I'm about to have it done. I'm a little worried. Can you tell me what to expect?
I have had mine for about 3 years now. I take 19 tablets daily. I have Complex and Absence Seizures but I have not had a Tonic Clonic seizure for about 4 years now. I have to keep going back and forth to see my Epilepsy Specialist and he measures the strength/changes and the different settings. When I went last he noticed that I had not got much battery life left and he wasn't sure what to do. My specialist said that It would cost £9000 to replace the battery, he suggested turning it off but said I would more than likely start with all my epilepsy attacks again. Cheers, Martin.
